2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco Review
Through generous sponsorship from Champion Chevrolet Gulf Freeway, I was able to attend Bloggy Boot Camp in Dallas 10 days ago. This was my first blogging conference – ever – and I was so excited to attend. It was a fantastic weekend full of networking, knowledge, and energy. I came home with pages and pages of notes on how I was going to improve my blog, grow it immediately, then quit my day job.
Just kidding. Slow and steady growth is the key to success in blogging. I’ll have more of a wrap up of what I learned at the conference later. I think I’m still processing most of it.
Four of us set out in the 2013 Malibu Eco provided by Champion Chevrolet – Lisa from Milehimama, Jen from Still Living the Dream, Amanda from Grow Soul Beautiful and myself. We carpooled, giggled, and tweeted the whole way from Houston to Dallas. Well, maybe I was light on the tweets, driving and all…
Isn’t she pretty?
The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco has some awesome features. The most important feature being its gas mileage! We made it to Dallas on less than 3/4 of a tank. That’s almost 300 miles! We got an average of 30 miles per gallon on the trip up there, but hit traffic in Downtown Dallas right at 5 pm. The EPA estimates are 25 mpg city / 37 mpg highway.
The Eco part of the Malibu is very similar to the 2012 Chevrolet Volt that I was able to drive last year. It has hybrid power, but the battery assists the engine – it doesn’t add mileage like the Volt does. My husband, the car enthusiast, told me so, since we didn’t have a charging station to use in Dallas. It definitely has the same kind of feel to it, and balancing the Eco in the dash is fun. Saving gas equals saving money, and y’all know I like to save money.
The cabin area is huge, and the luggage of four women fit easily into the trunk.
Features I liked:
• Really cool ice blue ambient lighting.
• Touchscreen display for the radio and controls.
• Eco climate control.
• Super simple Bluetooth pairing.
• Rear-view camera.
Things I didn’t like:
• I had to give it back.
Thank you again, Champion Chevrolet Gulf Freeway, Mr. John Hays, and Mr. David Tong for sponsoring our ride, and our trip to Bloggy Boot Camp. I had a fantastic time, I learned a ton, and I kinda wanted to keep the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.

Looks like a great midsized car! That trunk looks huge!
It is a HUGE trunk. The part that holds the battery made a great little cubby for stowing bags.
wow that car looks amazing and great review!
Thanks!
Wonderful review and I love the color of the car.
My Cruze is the same color – it’s called Crystal Red. LOVE IT!
I have been researching eco cars and the Malibu looks a lot nicer then some I have been looking at-they look more like, “Hey look at me I am an eco car!” so I am glad to know and see this one looks so stylish!
It really feels like a luxury sedan on the inside.
Love the look of this car! While we’re in the market for more of a larger family car, I think this would be the perfect commuter car for my husband with that type of gas mileage!
I understand that! We have 5 in our family and our car seats… 5!
Great review!! I would love to have such great gas mileage!!!
My husband can get better gas mileage than I do, but I was pretty impressed with it!
Wow 4 womens luggage fit in the same trunk?! Crazy! I love the look of the car!
Right!?!
I think we had 3 carry ons, 1 duffle, and a computer bag or two back there. And of course, on the way back, we had our swag bags and goodies.
Wow! How awesome that they sponsored you for the trip and threw in a great ride on the way up, too! I love the trunk space on that baby.. and now that we have a back up camera in one of our cars, I can’t live without it!
I don’t have the back up camera in my own car, but it is SO handy!
That’s really cool! What a great review. How fun that you all got to ride! Now that’s what I call a car pool.
It was a blast! I would totally do it again.
Ohhh.. she is pretty! I love the Malibus.. never realized they get such great gas mileage though!
That is a beautiful Car! Very stunning, love the colors and it looks like it could really fit quite a lot! Sweet deal. Sorry you have to give it back.
That’s okay, I can still drive by and visit.
I can’t believe that trunk held luggage for four. Holy cow! I’m intrigued with the hybrid power aspect of it too.
I wish I knew more about how they worked – my husband is the car expert.
I’m actually in the market for a new car so this post is very timely. above all else, I’m LOVING the gas mileage FO SHO! seriously beats the pants off my current gas-guzzling beast that only gets 14 mpg – and that TRUNK!!! My kids could fill that up in no time… or maybe I’ll let them ride in the back seat
KIDDING OF COURSE
It’s AMAZING how much you can save when you UPGRADE! My brother went from a gas guzzling truck to a Chevy Sonic and saved almost his whole car payment in gas!
What a great review. That car looks awesome!
Thank you!
We love Chevy! I’d love to get a small car like this soon!

Love my Chevrolets!
That trunk looks big enough to fit all my coupons and then some
Nice!
How many coupon boxes does it take to fill the trunk of a Malibu Eco? The world may never know!
Looks so comfortable and you gotta love how much space there is in the trunk!
LOVE trunk space!
I am amazed you fit luggage for 4 ladies in there! Wow!
What a nice looking car and to think it holds the luggage of four ladies speaks volumes!!
I was going to say the trunk looks huge but someone already made that comment. Lisa from Milehimama did tell me how much she learned there as well. Can’t wait to read your post on what you learned or processed, lol.
That’s super cool that they sponsored you! I hope to be able to be awesome bloggers like you lovely ladies one day!

Ha! I love your ending. It was such a pretty car. So was the volt.
Congrats on your first blogging conference and what a cool way to go!
